These tactile ceramic pieces were born from playing with clay and a desire to replicate the texture, colours and floating movements of the sea anemones.

They are made out of coils, to give an organic feel, and look as if they are moving with the currents, like they are alive.

Display: They can be displayed on their own, as a group or with Sea Spirits.

The idea for first Sea Spirit started with something small, by feeling a seashell in my hand, brought back from a beach I love. I knew I needed to create a presence that reminded me of the beauty and mystery of the sea, so I started making her.

I used the same coiling technique I’d been experimenting with on the Sea Anemones to build her body. I modelled the shell on her head after the actual shell that inspired her. Her hair mirrors the Sea Anemone tentacles, but longer and more fluid, like it was moved by underwater currents. I gave her a calm and curious expression, like she was looking up from the bottom of the sea, wondering about the creatures that live out of the water.

The next Sea Spirits I made were hand-built in the same way, however they grew into more confident and mature personalities. Their expressions remain playful and warm, as if they know the hidden currents and stories of the sea, and are inviting us to discover them too.

Many Sea Spirits feature seaweed, shells and starfish, celebrating the colours, textures and extraordinary diversity of our seas and oceans.

Sea Spirits are ceramic beings who invite us to wonder, pause and reconnect with nature.

Display: Sea Spirits can be displayed of their own or surrounded by Sea Anemones, Seahorses or Starfish as a collection. Wall pieces are designed to hang on a small nail with a head.
