Inspiration behind the Flower Spirits
The Flower Spirits were born from the phrase ‘Stop and smell the roses’, which often comes to my mind as a reminder to slow down. My sense of smell is not great though, but I’m a very tactile person and I have a sharp sense of touch.
Because flowers are fleeting by nature, I began creating durable tactile ceramic Flower Spirits who could bring calm and colour through the seasons. They are like gentle anchors, reassuring presences, who help me reconnect with myself and the external world.
My more recent Flower Spirits include bees and other pollinators, as a celebration of the vital relationship between flowering plants and the insects that help them exist. Some also feature patterned textures, inspired by the repeating forms and rhythms found in nature.
Flower Spirits are an invitation to pause, look closely and remember that we are also part of nature.
Display: Flower Spirits wall pieces are designed to hang on a small nail with a head. These ceramic beings look lovely on their own, or surrounded by Butterfly Spirits or Leaf Spirits.
